April Ross

April Ross is only one of only a handful of beach volleyball players who have earned medals multiple times at an Olympics. Alix-Klineman is set to compete alongside April Ross Tokyo in order to claim her third gold medal in the coming days. Ross is hoping to secure an Olympic first gold medal but she is also aiming for greater. It could be the last chance she'll ever have as she is 39 years old. She is still confident nevertheless. If we play our best or even if we play well I feel like we'll be able to win that gold medal Ross said via NBC Boston. Also, it's the result of luck. Ross born in 1982 and lived within Costa Mesa California with her mother and sister, first began competing in sports at the Newport Harbor High School. In Newport Harbor High School, she played in a variety of activities. Being a pre-athlete she played indoor track and volleyball. But she stood out at this level. Based on her biography, she was a middle blocker and outside hitting volleyball player during her high-school career. She was awarded the Gatorade National Circle of Champions Player of the year in 1999, for her performance. The skills she showed in volleyball also won her the Orange County Athlete of the Awards in 2000. Ross is working with Klineman from 2017, but Ross's beach game had been established long before this. In fact, she won several major championships while playing with two different partners, among them an icon of volleyball. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 until the year 2013. Kessy's teammate Ross, who won the world title together with Kessy in 2009 was also significant on the world stage. They eventually won a silver medal in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Misty May Treanor and Kerri Jennings the legendary team that took home the Olympic gold medal in 2012 in London, edged their opponents to claim the gold medal. Ross Jennings was the replacement for May-Treanor as she retired. The team won bronze in beach volleyball at Rio Olympics 2016. Ross played for the USC Trojans in college after graduating from the high school she attended. Ross's Trojans experience was impressive. She was a All-American and Pac-10 Freshman of Year when she was a teen freshman. Also, she was an integral player to help the Trojans reach it to the Final Four. Her sophomore year was the time she was devastated by a personal setback but managed to make it back as an All-American. In her last two years, she took the Trojans to the top of the mountain and clinched consecutive national championships. For her part Ross established her status in the history books by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. This award was given to the best female volleyball players at colleges across the nation. Ross majored at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross was never able to see her daughter reach the top in beach volleyball. Ross suffered the loss of her mom to cancer of the breast in the year 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. As a result, Ross is still close to her parent who died. Margie remains a constant source of inspiration for her on and off the beach.
